Cormorants are a great family of birds with different species all around the world giving the birdwatcher and photographer lots to get their teeth in to.  They are a very noticeable species and exclusively fish eaters which they catch by diving under the water to chase down their prey.  They can be found in both fresh and salt water.  In the UK the European species is at the centre of much controversy due to the predaion of fish stocks. This affects the hobby of angling with the cormorants eating massive amounts of stocked fish from artificially stocked commercial fisheries.
