The Rook is one of our most familiar  corvids (that is crow). They breed in large colonies called  rookeries and are  already well in to their breeding season as one of the countries earliest breeders.  I have been busy this last few days watching the Kingfisher and Barn Owl nest sites (I am licenced to do this  and it is against the law  without the license) and have not had a lot of successhence the lack of posts this last few days, I literally have't had anything to tell you show you.   However at one of my sites I have been seeing these rooks on every visit.  This isn't a bird I have photographed much before but I really ought to, they are more photogenic and interesting than you would imagine.To start with their shiny plumage has an oily sheen and seen in the right conditions has hints of magenta, blue and greens as you can see. It was fascinating to watch the interaction between the breeding pairs especially when they were food presenting, thats when the male feeds his female to strengthen the pair bond.
