This is not my best Kingfisher photograph thats for sure but there was, lets say, a development at the Kingfisher hide this evening.  When I arrived at around 5.30, I could see someone dressed in bright blue, peering in to the brook right next to the hide.   As I got nearer I reconised her as a friend of a friend, someone who has an interest in the Kingfishers, and who can blame her!  However from my point of view, her interest is probably going to have an impact on the birds choice of territory.  If she continually goes to the area of the hide to look for the bird then it won't be long before the bird will move on elsewhere.  In a way this will be OK because she will lose interest and stop coming to look and then the Kingfishers will probably return.  I think her disturbance has already had an affect. I climbed in to the hide but still couldn't get the message to her to leave me to it, weird! Eventually she left, at least I think she did, but of course I couldn't tell.  Anyway 20 minutes later, suddenly a Kingfisher was on the perch in front of me……… a female and not the usual male.   I took some photos but I didn't have the best lens with me so they were not the best.  Suddenly there was a scream from the bird as another Kingfisher flew in, she left chasing the intruder down stream.  I wonder if we have got a new territory holder now.  Its going to be interesting over the next few days particularly if this new female wants to hold on to her new patch at the expense of the original young male.
