Grey Wagtails and Dippers share the same habitat and where there are Dippers, Grey Wagtails are sure to be nearby. That's just the way it worked out this morning, it was a beautiful day with spring in the air. Bright blue sky and lovely sunshine. Wild flowers were everywhere, Daffodil, primrose, and Wood Anemone – (Anemone nemerosa). The river was flowing with crystal clear waters that tumbled over the boulders, the sound of water competing with bird song that filled the morning. When i caught sight of a bird, it's mate was never far away. This male Wagtail was proudly looking his best, his bib is showing boldly and as he hasn't started to breed yet, his feathers clean and crisp. Grey Wagtails only show this bib for a relatively short period in time so it's not that often that you can get a picture in their breeding plumage. But Dippers are my target at the moment and I am glad to say that I had even better views today if you can believe that. It is lovely to see them moving around together, and they are never far apart, following each other around like the lovers they obviously are. It is very endearing to see the male standing guard nearby and watching for danger as the female goes about her duties.
