I rarely enter any photographic competitions,  I don’t like to be thought of as a photographer, I’m just someone who uses a camera, you wouldn’t call yourself a violinist just because you owned a violin would you?  But when Julia Harris of the Dartmoor Study Group suggested I ought to enter a comp entitled the   “International Year of Biodiversity Photographic Competition” , I thought about it and decided, at the last minute, that I would.  It was good decision in the end I suppose  because I have just been notified that I have  won the first prize in the adult category with one of my Kingfisher photographs. I am being a bit humble, almost embarrassed really because I don’t take my pictures to win prizes. getting a good photo is reward enough to be honest and I feel a little bit sorry for anyone that would have liked to have won.  I probably won’t be entering any more because I started to get a little bit upset when I hadn’t heard by the middle of October which is when I thought the prizes were going to be announced and I don’t need to put myself in a position where I am worried about my photos do I?  It’s supposed to be fun………..There is a really nice prize though, an escorted  trip for 4 people to Lundy Island……. I don’t fancy that either, to be honest, it will be a chore and I’d rather stay at home  so I don’t know why I bothered really except my wife will probably enjoy the day out.  I don’t mind the trip to Lundy, I’ve never been, but I don’t fancy trailing around after the guide…….. my kind of hell!  What a mess I have got myself in to!

So back to my garden, still trying all day for some accommodating Tits and again, Blackcaps (seen again but no photo). However the Blue Tit photos are coming on and definitely worth posting here.
