I have been away  for so it is a couple of days since I Managed a session in the hide.  On my return back to Devon I had a nice email from Gary Clements who sent me this photo of an Otter print taken on the brook over the weekend. I thought it was worth posting because it clearly shows the 5th toe (4 in a dog).  It is good to be able to recognise an otter track when you see one.  We have had very little bird activity in the garden today, no sign again of the Blackcap but a few Goldfinches were heard and a Magpie was in the garden.

One response to “Otter tracks”

  1. Hi
I was out walking with my 8 year old daughter this afternoon in the frozen washes at Welney in Norfolk when we spotted a set of tracks. Immediately noticeable is the fact that one of the back legs of the animal must walk in the the same tread as one of the front legs. The shape of the paw mark is not distinct but perhaps the 3-paw gait is?
Can anyone tell me if this is an otter track?
I have photographs but there seems no facility to show them here
