It's not often that I get the chance to photograph a new species for the garden but today saw one of those rare events . I am excited at the constant comings and goings in the Holly Tree in the font garden. This is a great way to bird watch and photograph. Siting on the spare bed waiting for a new arrival in the tree is really relaxing and good fun. Coffee in one hand and sat in your slippers in the warm! The only disadvantage is the procession of tradesmen going about their business. For example, the window cleaner has temporarily put pay to any chance of a photo, hence I'm sat here writing the Blog. Anyway, early morning we had a Fieldfare join the action and i was chuffed to snap off just one photo before he flew off, so it was a successful few seconds. If not the best photo I have ever taken, it's a new species for the gallery of garden birds which can be seen here by clicking on the link.
UPDATE LATER ON:
As the day wore on the light didn't improve but I kept trying for a better Redwing shot. I used every trick that I knew including flash and I certainly got some images but there is still room for improvement. As soon as the sun comes out again photos will get better. No sight of any Blackcaps today but a brief glimpse yesterday also eating holly berries.
Here is one taken with Flash.
