I’ve just added a new lens to my kit and couldn’t resist a garden test. I spent a quiet hour chasing light and colour, and the session ended with a gift: a Large White (Pieris brassicae) settling on the Purple Loosestrife long enough for a careful series. The image looks almost studio-lit, but the white background is purely natural—a painted panel beneath a garden window reflecting soft light back into the scene. A pleasing first outing for the lens, and proof that you don’t have to travel far to find something worth photographing.
