I have been photographing the Kingfishers on my local brook for at least the last 15 years. Every July and August a new bird arrives, usually a juvenile, to set up territory. I usually cobble together a simple hide or something to conceal myself. I place a natural perch in the water which is shallow at this time of year and it isn’t long before the resident starts to use the perch. This always gives great photo opportunities as you can imagine. As long as you remain still and quiet, the bird is usually not disturbed.
