I know that most British birders are more interested in rarities than common birds but I find the Grey Wagtail worthy of posting here and if you are from the USA then of course this is a rare bird. They are known to visit Alaska and they have been seen as far south as California as a vagrant.  This one is a female and a nice bird to see when you are staking out Kingfishers and other water birds. I saw this one today as well as a male, this is another species that seems to stay together in pairs during the winter.  In the past I have seen this species eating tiny newly hatched fish fry which was a surprise, their usual prey is small insects and spiders  which they find chiefly by the waters edge.  For what it's worth, wherever you find Kingfishers and Dippers then in my experience there will be Grey Wagtails.
