Yesterday was a complete write off for me. I spent the entire day – 9 hours – trying to get to the bottom of my recent sight problems. Glad to say that in the end it was diagnosed that I have a bad cataract in my right eye which explains why the new glasses are not working well! my right eye is like looking through glasses that have been misted or perhaps what it would be like in a smoke filled room.. I haven't been able to see if my photographs are sharp or any good and have been guessing for months and months, that's one of the reasons that I haven't been blogging too much. For example, I am not actually seeing the letters clearly as I type here, I have a reasonable idea that I am typing correctly, so please excuse if there are any typo errors. I have also got some inflammation of the temporal artery which is a worry and it's under investigation for a serious condition and am hoping to have a biopsy on the offending artery sometime tomorrow, hopefully this will rule out any serious conditions.
So, onwards and upwards, I went out to the caravan this morning to check if the trail camera had recorded any comings and goings and yes, there was some great success. I had placed a day old chick on the gate post with the camera positioned on the opposite post. As I approached the gate I was pleased to see that the chick had been taken, I was confident the camera would have recorded something therefore. I was thrilled to see that a buzzard – and it seemed to be the same bird – had visited 3 times, once at 8.10 to take the chick and then twice just after 10 o'clock to look for more. This is just the behaviour which is going to make it possible to get some good photographs with my DSLR and 500 lens. I left the caravan an hour or so ago having reset the camera as before. Someone was schooling a horse in the nearby paddock and I thought that there was little chance of the buzzards coming down with this kind of activity going on. But it's good news and exciting.

Obviously a poor photograph but shows what happened. Good photographs to follow, please check back.
