The Robins are doing great! It’s been really lovely to have them around my feet and even in my polytunnel amongst the plants. The female approached me yesterday and I thought she was looking for mealworms but instead she drank from the drip at the end of the hose pipe. We haven’t had serious rain for a while and I hadn’t realised that there is no standing water. The young chicks are about to leave the nest, perhaps today but if not within the next day or so. They are fully feathered and look very bright eyed and healthy. The parents continue to feed them constantly and come to take mealworms from me whenever I offer them. But now there is a new development. The female is building another nest now. It’s in another old lovebird nest box, this time in the main shed. This box has no top though, this will be easy to put a camera on which will be great able to film and photograph them without disturbance. However, it is not as secure as the first one and a Magpie, if it were really daring, could get in and steal the eggs. It is obvious that they have come to the conclusion that my garden is a great place to breed. A secure and safe haven to build a nest and free food as well! It means that the repairs to my shed roof will be put back yet again. CHAS2795
