There was a dramatic change in behaviour around the the Robin's nest this morning. I hadn't seen the male for at least two weeks and then today suddenly, there he was, bringing food to the nest.  The chicks have hatched either today or yesterday and both parents are coming and going, delivering food and then searching the garden constantly for more. It's really obvious that there are chicks now. I have decided to offer  a few mealworms in a small pot and it was really nice when the female – at least I think it was the female – came right up to my feet to collect one or two, she ate one immediately and then took the other in to the nest.  Meanwhile, as I was working in my Polytunnel, the male came right up to the door to look for prey before inspecting the broad beans for aphids, proof of how much good birds do in the garden.  Later on in the day I placed my gopro camera near the nest box and when I checked the footage  I could see that both birds came to the nest box every 10 minutes or so.  I am certain to be able to post photos very soon.
