My quest for that photo of a lifetime continued today.  I arrived at the  site  full of anticipation as normal.   It was quiet and the light was perfect which added to the feeling of expectancy.  Surely my hours of waiting will pay off?   Before I moved over to the tree hide I scanned the oak and the favourite perches,  neither adult was in the tree so after checking on the large chicks on the nest ledge, they are fine,  I quickly made my way to the hide.   Just as I moved off I heard the scream of the tercel in the distance from an area that they have been favouring just lately, it's always reassuring to hear them.

After 40 minutes I heard the familiar sound of the youngsters being fed, I can't see the nest ledge from this position, I hadn't seen an adult fly in with prey but it obviously had.  At this point I hoped for the adult, whichever one it was, to come up to the oak as it often does, but still no success.  I can't keep saying that patience is a virtue but when I do get a  bird on the perch it will have all been worthwhile.

Again a Peregrine didn't land on the perch on this sesion,  but as if to tease me and as an indicator of just how good the photo will be when  it does land there, a Wood Pigeon settled right where I expext the bird of prey to perch.   Not only was this a great test for the camera, it was also proof of the efficiency of the camouflage.  Of course, I expect a Peregrine to be a bit more intelligent, aware and observant than a Wood Pigeon but on the other hand, a pigeon needs to be quite observant andit was fooled by my subterfuge!!
