This young Blackbird was sat on my lawn this afternoon and  for the second day running.  It's a lucky bird, we have a had terrible predatory domestic cat problem in our neighbourhood and usually by now it would have been a goner!  Luckily for it one of my neighbours moved out recently and took her nasty cats with her!!!!! The wildlife has a chance!   What a beautiful little thing it with life exuding from it's eyes!  There is a down side though, rats have arrived and so it seems I need to to take the rough with the smooth!  The rat catcher is dealing with the problem.

If you don't know about Blackbirds, they are Britain's most common thrush species and  in the family "turdus".  The most well known member of the family in the USA is the American Robin (Turdus migratorious).
