The  Common Fiscal (Lanius collaris) is a species of shrike and one of the most noticeable mall birds on my recent trip to South Africa.  I saw them repeatedly and got to know them quite well.  This one is a young male who landed just in front of me on a perch placed for Malachite Kingfisher at  the Intaka Island reserve. The light was perfect and so was the opportunity.
