Something that really excites me is a deer carcass so when my friend Dick sent me a message that there was a dead deer in the field adjoining his lovely house, well that was just too much.  His house is in a glorious setting, not too far from my home but seemingly in the middle of nowhere, next to a bird filled wood that has nesting Buzzards, Jays and Green Woodpeckers as well as all the usual common woodland birds. More of that when I have managed to get some pictures to post  here, this is on my list of "projects".

But back to the carcass.  I positioned a trail camera next to it to get a photo of what came in to feed, but more importantly I wanted to find out if it was going to be worth setting up a hide nearby.  So far the only thing recorded on the camera has been Carrion Crow but I know with certainty that something, probably a fox, has been feeding on it every night and inspite of about a kilo of flesh and guts being taken unforunately the camera hasn't recorded any of this for some strange reason.  I find these trail cameras to be unpredictably unreliable. Very frustrating.
