No visit to the hide today, other pressing things to do. But not entirely without news to report. I have taken delivery of a wireless remote unit to replace the one nicked in Spain, along with my laptop and lens if you remember? I have some plans to set up a camera remotely at water surface level hidden inside a "papier mache" rock that I have been making, this looks good and would fool anyone let alons a bird. I need to make sure that there is absolutely no disturbance whatsoever. With the right lens it should be possible to freeze some action, I am very excited about this. Yesterday, I took so many pictures that I have several pearlers that I didn't post, here are a couple.
This is the female Dipper who arrived at the teritory to add some material to the nest. You can clearly see that the female has a slighter less "cobby" body. Compare to the male below which also shows the white eyelid and lower white orbital ring. When the eye is closed this white eye lid flashes and is thought to act as a signal to other dippers in the area. Another very interesting feature of this species.
