Yesterday afternoon I went to Haulover Park and inlet.  It is a really good place to photograph the Brown Pelicans that are such iconic birds of this region.  One of the advantages of visiting a place like this regularly is that you get to know the "hot-spots" for various species, For example Purple Galinules at Holiday Park, west on State Road 84, Osprey at John U Lloyd State Park (as we have already seen) and of course the Pelicans at Haulover hwere they congregate to fish in the inlet where it rushes in and out with the strong tides.

I took what turned out to be a really evocative shot and here it is.

Even though Morning Doves are really common in the USA, like I say, to me they are an interesting bird and one that I don't see very often of course.  I therefore never over look them because they are very photogenic to my eyes and yours too, I hope.  This one was feeding amongst the picnic tables in the late afternoon sun.

The same can be said of Sanderling, called a Sandpiper by just about every American that you meet, they are always scurrying along the beach amongst the feet of the "vacationers" as they call themselves.  They are a pretty little bird never the less.
