John U Lloyd State park is an area close by that I always enjoy visiting. I went there first thing as my early morning outing and finished up having the best Osprey encounter of my whole life with no exaggeration. I had parked the car close to a path that led to the beach, over a small wooden bridge that crossed the creek. My mind was not focused as I walked but my daydreaming was shattered by a massive splash. In the same instant I caught sight of the culprit…… a young Osprey which was by now pulling clear of the water to circle again before landing on a trees stump just feet from me. I rattled off some shots and waited to get that shot of a lifetime of it diving in to the small pool. It didn’t leave the perch while I waited for the next 45 minutes. I had a deadline to be home by 10 so I sadly and reluctantly left the bird, still sat there. Never the less, what a massive thrill. Another “in your face” shot.
