Here’s another picture from Friday’s High Speed Flash session, one that I didn’t post before.
THis weekend has been slow with very few birds seen. Blackcaps have been absent from the garden for several days, and the regular flocks of Goldfinches usually seen, have yet to appear this year. I am assuming that there is still a lot of natural food still in the countryside and the birds will move in, in numbers eventually. A late flying Red Admiral butterfly was in the garden at midday I went to sit in the Kingfisher hide for the 1 1/2 hours before dusk, hoping of course for a Kingfisher but it didn’t show. In fact it was very quiet there too and I had to wait for more than an hour, and by the then the light had almost faded, before we had any avian visits at all. Then a Grey Wagtail a Little Egret and then a “first-winter” Moorhen momentarily visited.
