I visited a famous Yorkshire landmark yesterday, Flamborough Head near Bridlington, Yorkshire. It is very well known area for rare birds and passage migrants and the list of species is a long one. The steep paths down to the beech are bordered by expanses of brambles and thick cover and even though yesterday wasn't too fruitful, there was still enough activity to keep me interested. However, any Sunday in August is going to be busy and this was the case yesterday. A few birds were active though, interestingly, House Martins were nesting on the steep chalk faces, the first time that I have seen them in this kind of habitat. Amongst the brambles were Linnets, Blackbirds and a Blue tits as well as Whitethroat which I managed to photograph.
