As soon as I had the opportunity today, I was off to the moor again and back to me my pool.  I still need to photograph a nice male Linnet and so far, I haven't been successful. It had been a week or more since I last had a session there and I was hoping that everything was going to be untouched and in tact. I had been last Thursday with my granddaughter (age 2) and her mum and dad (my son Tom), just to show them and also to inspire. We had seen a few species so it was well worth it.  Today, as I walked down the stream towards the pool a pair of Stonechat were showing themselves really well.  I have seen this behaviour numerous times, I knew for certain that they must have a nest, or probably more likely, newly fledged babies somewhere near by.  This behaviour is a distraction strategy employed by the adults to try and lure predators from their young. I always move away as soon as I can and leave them in peace very quickly. The male is above and this one is the female.

Later, at the pool,  I sat inside, very cramped and restricted because it was starting to collapse a little. But it was fabulous when the stonkingly attractive male Yellowhammer came in to drink. I got some photos but with really bright weather, it's hard to get a good photo so there is still much more work to do. Do you agree that Yellowhammer take some beating in the looks department.  They are such a lovely bird and  very exotic.
