A dull day yesterday, Tuesday July 12th.  Late afternoon and early evening I spent a couple of hours at the pool.  It was incredibly quiet with hardly a bird let alone a photograph of one. I have noticed this before, when the weather is sunny the birds are active and when it's dull, hardly a bird to be seen. Where do they go, what do they do and why aren't they feeding and drinking when it's dull?  In a addition, the earlier part of the day seems to be better for birds too. However, I did have a brand new bird for the pool, a Goldfinch came down to drink but the movement of the camera as I panned to it, caused too much disturbance and off it went. What was interesting though was the sound of Siskins amongst the group that were perched in a nearby tree. That seems to be normal behaviour, they sit in the tree and when the coast is clear they come down.

After Dartmoor, I visited my Kingfisher hide for an hour at dusk. I need  to keep an eye on the potential Kingfisher hide.  It was this week last year when I first caught sight of the young  Kingfisher, having spent hours waiting without one, suddenly the female arrived, I am hopeful that this is going to happen this year……… why not?

Anyway here is the perch and great scene…….. without a Kingfisher…… but I wanted you to see how inviting it looks!
