Jenny and I got up relatively early this morning and took breakfast with us to Exmouth beach on a glorious July morning. I wanted to photograph Mediterranean Gulls in the early light, and before it got too busy. Most things were in place, sun, sea and sand but unfortunately, no Mediterranean Gulls. Still, never mind because It was lovely, and there were numerous Black headed Gulls in the surf, all sporting breeding colours with chocolate heads. I took photos, I like gulls, especially adults and these were looking very nice. This was about the best.
There is a massive amount of sea weed dumped on the surf line by the incoming tide and this is an attraction to flying insects and, in turn, Pied Wagtails and Swallows. Pied Wagtails are not a particular favourite of mine but I never let an opportunity pass me by. When I looked at this one I was impressed by the flying sand which really gives the picture something a bit different and a sense of movement.
