We are sat waiting for our connection to Townsville here at Cairns Airport, amazing beautiful scenery all around with lush tree filled hills bordering a flat plain. It's hot we are jet lagged……… is that a bird I can see, yes it's a Peaceful Dove - Geopelia placida a very small and very attractive species and my first bird from Australia, probably very common, but to me a little gem!!!!!!  There were two, an obvious pair walking around by the doors to the arrival lounge. Also seen, a Common Myna and 3 Swallow.
