This is the second species of solitary Mining Bee that we have had in the garden this year. Earlier on in the month we had Andrena nigroaenea building their "mines" in the back garden by the lawn. Click on the link to read the Blog entry about them and see pictures. At the time, I had misidentified that bee as Andrena fulva which is the species discovered today. The Tawny Mining Bee  is much more numerous and I found at least 10 "mines".  This time they are on the garden at the front of the house. The  bees were  coming and going from their individual holes frequently.  Here (above),  is one emerging from her mine. It was interesting to see them slowing moving to the top of the burrows and waiting until the 'coast was clear" and then quickly flying off.

Later on in the afternoon I went back to visit my Dippers and had the usual great views but today I concentrated on trying to photograph some of the small warblers that have recently arrived here. Chiffchaffs were singing and calling as well as a glorious singing Blackcap. I did manage a half decent Chiffchaff shot.
