I sat, in total, for 4 hours this morning waiting……….. in vain………. for the female Kingfisher to come in and have a go at the Minnows placed in the tank. The light was just perfect and as I experimented with the camera settings to make sure that I ws ready for her arrival, I took some fish photos. When I returned home for a drink and a spot of lunch I couldn’t believe how well a few of these shots had turned out.
These are Minnows, common in lots of waterways in the Uk but usually fast flowing and clean streams which says a lot about my brook here at Alphington. If you are reading the blog from the USA (and perhaps other parts of the world), I know that you call all small fresh water fish minnows. This is technically innacurate and I guess that the early settlers to the US when they saw smmall fish in the waterways in their “new’ country, called them mainnows after the familar fisf from back home. So now you know what a proper minnow looks like!
