The weather has not been too bad today and by late afternoon the sun came out and a walk down the brook  had me worried……. no sign of the Kingfisher!  I came home and got myself kitted up in waders and then returned to sit it out in the flooded hide to wait for her to show herself. I sat down on the shooting stick which was only 1 inch clear of the muddy water and it came up past my knees but never mind, it wasn't cold and although it seems bizare it was actually relatively comfortable. My face beamed when afeter an hour, at least, she flashed past the hide up stream, she is SAFE after all and I was very pleased. The water level is returning back to normal but at the moment everything is covered in a layer of filthy mud, including the brookside vegetation. I am presuming that she has managed to catch some food so everything should return to normal soon I hope.
