My Dipper watching was rewarding today. The river was in real spate with lots of previously exposed rocks now totally submerged, so the idea of knowing which rocks he was going to prefer has gone out of the window somewhat. What I did discover though, was the preference for the shallows when he was feeding. Unfortunately I chose the opposite side to "set up camp" today and my focus of attention was going to be only feet from the rocks he had been on yesterday. It didn't work out that way unfortunately and I am still trying for that real close-up.

This slight "reddish hue" in the this picture is called Chromatic aberration and is caused when the camera lens can't cope with the extreme brightness of the whites caused by the glare on the water.  This is a good example of how hard it is to get good photos in these conditions.

Perhaps the best Dipper photo so far….. we are almost there but keep checking back, it's going to get better.
