Late afternoon when it hadn't rained in spite of the BBC and all the weather forecasters saying it would be pouring all afternoon, I decided to go out to the River Teign to look for some Dippers to photograph. I wasn't expecting to get close today but hopefully to  find a territory and somewhere suitable to place a hide. Dipper are a nice interesting bird that I like a lot and I want some good photos of one. It was very fruitful and with only a little effort and a bit of thought I found a couple of great places to tuck a hide away. As I walked down the river I saw a bird ahead and tried to get close to it, it wasn't possible because they can be a easily disturbed. When I reached the spot it was obvious, by the amount of droppings on the rocks jutting out of the stream, that this was going to be good place. I sat and enjoyed the river as it tumbled over the rocks, very beautiful. A Grey Wagtail female joined me, not too close but near enough for a photo and I took a few shots. I see them often on the Brook so it was not a special moment but always nice to see them, especially in such a pretty place and where you would expect them to be.

The threatened rain eventually started after all. As I made my way back up to the  car I looked back and there was the Dipper again, right where I expect to put the hide. I am expecting some good photos eventually and will be surprised if I don't. I took a snap shot from a distance and as you can see it is very pretty.
