I have said on numerous occasions that Hoverflies are interesting and today I saw a new species. As I sat in the hide waiting for Kingfishers the sun was streaming down on to a clump of grass just in front. I used the 200mm Pentax lens to take photos of this insect that was feeding on Honeydew, that's an excretion from an aphids behind to be crude. This is sweet and sugary and very attractive to ants as well as flies who lap it up.  I was thrilled with the photos when I had a look at home. The  background, out of focus intentionally as it is, is called a "bokah"  a Japanese word apparently. It is an attractive feature of this kind of photography, the intention is to draw the viewers eyes on to the subject matter without distraction from an overly cluttered background.  It certainly makes these pictures very pleasing to the eye.
