An hour or two spent on the brook this evening gave me some more good shots of the Egrets as I sat it out waiting for the Kingfisher (I'm still trying). The Egrets are pretty much constantly feeding there at the moment.  I have had some good photo opportunities as they catch minnows and sticklebacks. The water is very shallow which could perhaps explain why the Kingfisher seems to be fishing elsewhere at the moment. The ducklings are really suffering and now the original 12 has been reduced to just 5 over night, natural enough but a little bit disturbing as well.
Grey Wagtail juvenile
When it got too dim for any good photography, I walked the length to look for otter signs and there were a few tracks and spraint, but nothing really fresh. I suddenly noticed this newly fledged grey Wagtail which is really good news because, if you read the blog regularly, you will know that I have been seeing a male bird all winter and it's really good to know that they are breeding here. You can see on this young bird, it's fleshy gape by the side of the beak.

It's a shame this image is not just a little more sharp, as I said it was getting a bit dim and that makes photography more difficult.
