There has been several Spotted Sandpiper on the beaches here this last few days. Both yesterday and today I have enjoyed getting really close to one or two. I adore these birds with their attractive spotted plumage. I have found that if you sit really quietly and behave in a very calm manner they will approach within just a few feet as they search amongst the beach debris for small flies and other insects.
