He dropped his fish, had a good look around for it and then went down and got it back. I was then struck be the realisation as to why he he perches in the places he does to deal with his prey. He always prefers to perch over dry land when feeding. This is obviously so that if he should drop his hard earned catch it will not be lost in the water………. clever eh!  This is a shot with my new 300mm Prime Lens…… this cost as much as Jenny's car and 6 times more than mine!!!!  But….wow……. it's worth it don't you agree. I reasoned that, when I'm dead and gone I won't be able to take either my camera with me nor any money I might have saved, so what the heck! I'm on a mission, that is to get the very best photographs that I can and that takes time, effort, persistence, disappointment, discomfort and above all money for the gear!!!!! (this also contributes to the discomfort by the way).

More Pics from this morning.

Latest news on the Otter watching. I set the camera on both Tuesday and Wednesday night with nothing recorded. Otters have large territories and it probably means that she is in another part of that territory at the moment, she will be back I am sure. I am about to go and set the camera in the next hour so we will hopefully have something to show tomorrow all being well.

This is a nice sequence of a (I presume) male Nuthatch coming in to investigate a hole for a potential nest site. it will be good if he chooses it, I know where it is and I will hopefully get some good shots as the season progresses. Fingers crossed.1

  1. I’ve discovered your blog via Paul’s blog (Little Brown Job). Your photos are great! Amazing colours and very nice composition. My favourite is the first one.
