What an absolutely dreadful dreary, and now rainy day we have today……… English weather at it's worst. A symphony of grey and brown and then more grey! I tried early on for some Kingfisher action, no luck…… I put out sprats to entice the Egrets closer to me…… no luck, so I came home, had breakfast and slobbed around for the rest of the morning!
Eventually, after realising that even the garden Goldfinches looked dreary in this light, I went out for a walk to the opposite end of the brook, hopefully the Buzzard was going to be showing himself ….. or is it a girl? Well, it was there fortunately and it did interest me for an hour before the rain started to fall with those big heavy spots that soak you through in around 30 seconds. As soon as I arrived the Buzzard was in the air gliding and swooping from one of his favourite perches to the next. As I watched him it became obvious that he wasn't really worried, nor interested in me, instead he was peering intently at the ground and in hunting mode. Firstly he was on the railings by the overflow, then on the Railway lights above the track and then, just as quickly in to a tree to my left then back to the pylon, never still for more than a minute or two. At the Rabbit warren I caught sight of a disappearing tail and he had seen it as well. I suspect that he feeds on these Rabbits whenever he gets the chance and as soon as I manage to get hold of a dead rabbit from a friend I will 'bait" him. His reward will be free rabbit and in return I get the photos I want.
