White Wagtail

White Wag2

This is a Motacilla wagtail seen with others on the cliffs at Branscombe today. I guess it could be a Pied Wagtail – Motacilla Alba yarelii but my instinct is White Wagtail. I know that they are confusing and hard to separate at this time of the year but it appears to be grey backed with a very white face. if you know either way then please let me know. I thought it would be good to post it after the Grey Wagtail over the weekend.I also saw Northern Wheatear and massive flocks of Swallow and Martins passing through on migration as well as a Kestrel and one Buzzard. If you are wondering what all the fuss is about Branscome then perhaps this picture will help you to appreciate why we all love  it here.
