I have to say that yesterday's sighting and photographs of the Bittern was a real red letter day for me. I was thrilled to see it in such bright sunny conditions and can't believe my luck on not only one but two separate occasions. Getting a series of photographs as a record for myself and also for the bird-watching community at large is particularly pleasing.
Today was a garden day, the weather has not been the best therefore I have remained close to my home apart from a trip out this morning to a friend who has an absolutely beautiful house with a beautiful garden to match and some beautiful bird visitors to his feeders. I have been invited to go and take some photos and will do that the next time we have a bright day. The Nuthatches will make good subjects. My own garden has been a busy one with the Siskins and Goldfinches being very active. There were at least 4 Siskin today which is the most at one time. No Greenfinches though so probably the recent disease has affected them more than was first thought.
Just worth mentioning that we had 5 House Sparrows around this morning which is a
nice number compared to the usual 3.
We had a couple of male Siskin feeding together which is the first time that we have had more than 1 at a time.
