A short break in the cloud gave me the opportunity to go back to the little seaside town of Beer. I hoped to get a better photo of the Black Redstart seen on Friday and also I had heard reports of a male. It was a little more difficult to find the bird on this trip but eventually I tracked it down to a little park just above the bay. The sun was by now very bright and from the right direction and the bird posed well. Still no sign of a male.
As I sat waiting I had a really good chance to take some shots of this Rock Pipit which was showing really well.

It perched on the winch housing on ly a few feet from us.

As we sat there this White/Pied Wagtail – Motacilla alba (or Motacilla yarellii) came very close as well. This looks like the more rarely seen White Wagtail, the continental variety and not the usual pied Wagtail but I will need to do a bit of research to check this out.
