I have been trying not only to get closer to the Powderham Osprey but also to get a shot that shows the location. Today I almost did it, as you can see there is a bit of the Castle in the background but could be any castle and any Osprey! Still its a bit more interesting than the previous attempts. It looks as though it was about to land but right at the last moment it changed it’s mind and flew back to the other trees. That was hard luck because it would have given me the best views yet.
As I stood waiting for the bird to put in an appearance I was joined by a character with a spotting scope and binos. He was obviously a keen birdwatcher but he was dressed in a bright white T shirt. For the life of me I can not understand why anyone would spend hundreds and hundreds of pounds on equipment and then spoil there chances of some really good bird watching for the sake of sombre attire. When I pointed this fact out to him he was most insistent that it made no difference to his success………….MUPPET! is my response. I was glad when he hoofed it away from me and pretty soon as he left the Osprey put in an appearance. I rest my case!
