These images are from the Marsh today, in between the showers I continue to look for the Spoonbill but again no success. We stopped, in between a shopping trip, at some local fishing ponds to have a look for any dragonfly activity. I had no camera or binoculars but planned to go back later or another day if I thought it worth it. There were a few Damselflies and Butterflies dodging the showers. These included Demoisells Azure and Blue-Tailed and my first Ringlet Butterfly of 2008. No Dragonflies but an angler told mne that he regularly sees the “big ones” as he put it. A Chiffchaff was singing away to my right and suddenly I heard the call of a Kingfisher, very close and loud, in a dip and surrounded by hills, any sounds are amplified somewhat. I was pretty certain I knew the direction of the call and I was just begining to doubt myself when there was a loud plop and splash and we turned to see the Kingfisher no more than 20 feet away, emerge from the water with a fish and fly to another perch again out of sight. We were just about to excitedly talk about the wonderful spectacle when it took to the wing again and flew diagonally in front of us giving the most amazingly clear view. I have to admit to being awe struck and for a second tears welled up in my eyes, I was so moved by the event which was British nature at it’s best.
Another chat with the angler revealed that it was a common sight on the ponds . I am formulating a plan and strategy for Kingfisher watching! Watch this space.
The Little Egret is from yesterday, but the same bird was

there again on the Marsh in almost the same location. I really love the way that the water droplets were captured in the image.
