I know there has been less activity on my blog in the last month or so. At last I have had some interesting activity in the garden. During the last few weeks apart from Blackbirds, Rooks and the odd Goldfinch and Sparrow there has been absolutely nothing to report. We have had very few Hoverflies and no Butterflies which I find very strange. At last something of interest happened. At around 2 o’clock this afternoon I noticed first one, then another Long Tailed Tit, in fact there was a small family group. They came very close to my house and through the kitchen window I was able to get a couple of half decent photos. This bird is a juvenile and has been caught in the rain showers hence the wet plumage. The red orbital ring on theses birds is a very attractive feature of them. They always look a bit bedragled at the best of time.In my experience they are often accompanied by Goldcrests but not today, but I had a good look around. Still this is a new visitor to the garden in 2008
