In my earlier post today I told you about Demoiselle Damselflies, you can read about them here. I was at ponds that I know to be very quiet and unspoilt. I was confident that I would see lots of wildlife there. I was correct, as well as the Damselflies there are lots of interesting birds but due to the leaves they are not very easy to see. I heard Green Woodpecker, Tawny Owl,and I saw Long Tailed Tits, Wrens and Blue Tits as well as this Mallard. There was a bird singing most beautifully and I just could not put my finger on the species. It was really getting to me as I was sure I had heard it before. Eventually it came into view momentarily and I saw that it was a Blackcap Warbler. To be honest I hadn’t realised that they sing so loudly, and so well. There was also some lovely Speckled Wood Butterflies and Orange Tip. The Speckled Woods are easy to photograph because they will settle very obligingly for you but Orange Tip are not so helpful so when you see one you had better get it’s picture. Mallard
