What great weather we are experiencing at the moment, really enjoying it. I returned this morning to the Sand Martin Colony and instead of wearing the usual “Camo” top was dressed in a black T shirt. It was as though the Sand Martins didn’t exist, they just never came near to the bank and me at all. I was a good distance from the nests, much further than yesterday they never put in even an appearance. As soon as I retired to a 30 yards or so away they returned immediately. The answer obviously is that it does pay to wear camouflage clothing and I will never go out without wearing my camo top again. (That doesn’t include the pub by the way).
But I was amazed at the difference it had made, I didn’t manage any photos today that improved on yesterday’s so here are a couple from that “shoot”. 3_sands_landscape

As my Blog originated as a Garden record I should perhaps tell you of the comings and goings. Over the last day or so we have had Drone Fly – Eastralis sp. as well as the Brindled Hoverfly . There has been another small species of hoverfly around but I havn’t been able to get close enough for a photo yet. Frogs are very active and I counted more than 10 sunbathing on the edge of their wildlife pond. If I could offer any advice to anyone wanting to encourage wildlife into your garden then you should include water somewhere.
