
Sedge Warblers are very vocal and lively warblers. They are the main feature at the moment at Exminster Marsh. This photograph shows their open red gape, and I can hear him singing as I look at the photo. The have just arrived here in the UK from their winter quarters in Sub Saharan Africa. The journey is said to take 75 to 95 hours and is non stop! A distance of 2400 miles. Imagine that as a feet of endurance for a bird that weighs around 35 gramms.
