At last we have had a decent day here in Devon and what a cracker it has been. Over the last week or so there has been a Little Crake on “my marsh” at Exminster. It has been a scrum really and I am surprised that the bird has been so confiding as it has almost been hounded. If that is a strong description then pestered would perhaps be a better description. Today we even had so called bird lovers trespassing on the reserve to get a glimpse. I am sad to say that I am yet to get a glimpse let alone a photo mainly because I refuse to get involved in the melee. But to be fair I have met several like minded and lovely people who in spite of their pleasant demenour and caring attitude have had good glimpses so perhaps my time will come!
So after another abortive attempt to see the Little Crake I took a trip to Yarner Woods on the edge of Dartmoor to look for the Pied Flycatchers who I had been told were showing well. To cut a long story a bit shorter I eventually got these very satisfying and rewarding photos of a Cock displaying near his new territory. He was creating quite a spectacle and allowd me to get quite close if I sat still. I hope you enjoy seeing the photos as much as I enjoyed seeing him.

If you want to see some photos from my recent Florida trip then check the gallery here BIRDS. and BUTTERFLIES here.
Today was agood one for butterflies and I have seen a female Orange Tip, Brimstone and Peacock.
