The Blue tit is a very popular and well loved bird in the UK. We have them in the garden regularly and they have bred frequently in a nest box in an adjacent garden. They are frequent visitors to garden feeders, especially in the winterLook here for a really good web site that gives so much information and another here that is more local to my part of the world. I recently took around 50 photographs that were very successful and I have posted 6 for you to look at.Imgp2421 The first one is my favourite, probably the best photograph that I have ever taken, yes I was that close, about 12 feet in fact.Imgp2434 I always look for “pictures” when I am choosing photographs and what I like about this series is the connection between the sharp hawthorns and the very colourful gentle birds. When you see a bird looking straigh at you in this way, dont be fooled into thinking that it is looking straight at you. Birds dont see in the same way that we do and can only see from one side or the other. This is quite an interesting Imgp2345
pose. The next pose is perhaps one where the bird might be looking in your direction with the head cocked to one side, in fact I am pretty sure it Imgp2286_2
was focusing on the bag of food just out of the picture. So now it has made it”s way onto the food and, in the acrobatic way that they are famous for, hanging on as it twirls in the wind. Finally this image portrays a sense of action and movementImgp2443_2 and I don’t think that the motion blur detracts from the photograph whatsoever.Imgp2621
