All photos on the Blog were taken in the garden or in the vicinity by myself. I try to include photographs taken on the day of the post. There will inevitably be some repetition of species, but I always try and post an image that is never the less interesting to look at and hopefully tells a story. The House Sparrows have been feeding on the flower buds of a Clematis- (variety montana) that we have encouraged to grow through a cotoneaster bush. When the clematis is in bloom this creates quite a show. The habit of de-budding by sparrows has given them quite a bad reputation and in the past gardeners would go to great lengths to stop them doing this. I am quite prepared to sacrifice a few flower heads for the privilege of having them with us. There is a new photo of a hen Sparrow here.
