As I write we are in the middle of one of the most violent strorms of our our winter. We are experiencing 75 mph winds and driving rain to match. Birds and for that matter insects are keeping a very low profile. Earlier on today I did catch sight of a Collared Dove and a pair of Wood Pigeons but the smaller finches and sparrows are invisible today. No doubt they are sheltering and will all emerge as soon as it passes over. Yesterday at around noon I caught sight of a Female Blackcap Warbler. I had seen a pair on the 28th February but that was my only previous sighting of a female. Yesterday morning we had visits from Chaffinches as well as Greenfinches again and Blue and Great Tits. These three birds showed for photos very well. House Sparrow, Goldfinch and Greenfinch.
