I make no apologies for including another photo of a Dunnock because I am so pleased with the result. I set up my camera in a corner of the garden in the hope of getting a good photo of the hen Blackbird. She is distinctively marked with a white feather on her back so, as I have said before easy to recognise. I know she has paired with the cock bird that I see constantly and they have set up territory in the garden. I have been struggling to get even one photo of her whereas the male is constantly on view. This has led me to believe that there is probably a good reason for this and it is not a coincidence. Either the hen is at her nest site all the time and nest building (I have seen her gathering moss to line the nest), or perhaps it is natural behaviour for the male to be in full view and perhaps advertise to other birds that this is his patch, whilst she is more concerned about concealing the nest site! I have managed a shot of her but through glass from inside the house. It is consequently a little foggy. With this in mind I positioned my camera in the secluded area and sat it out for a good shot. The Dunnocks are still very noticeable and active and when one of them came into view I managed a real good shot. This is one of my most pleasing bird photographs taken so far and therefore worth posting to share with you.
A Buff-tailed Bumblebee was active around the top pond as I sat still, and I think it has a nest by the top pond.
